The Top 10 Tips For Running A Smooth Birthday Party For Your Child

It is so much fun to throw a birthday party for your children, but it can also be stressful as well. The joy you experience when seeing your children happy on their special day is something you will never forget. Plan ahead to make the party day as stress-free as possible.

Here are 10 tips on how to have your child’s birthday party run smoothly.

1. HAVE A PARTY THEME

Children love theme parties! You can choose a favorite movie like Frozen, a beloved animal like giraffes, or a theme like pirates that they will love. There are tons of creative ideas for unique birthday party themes on Pinterest. Make a Pinterest board to gather some inspiration.

2. OVER PLAN THE ACTIVITIES, EVEN IF YOU DON’T USE THEM ALL

There is no such thing as too many activities! Ensure the children are entertained throughout the party, so plan enough activities to keep them occupied.

3. ENLIST AN ADULT TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP

While you may not want to admit it, a second pair of hands can be very helpful. It is a good idea to have a friend who is willing to assist during the party.

4. HAVE YOUR CHILD MAKE EVERY GUEST FEEL WELCOMED

It is important to teach your child manners from an early age. All of your child's friends who come to celebrate should be greeted.

5. SIMPLE, KID-FRIENDLY FOOD IS BEST

It is always a good idea to serve finger foods. You should prepare snacks and foods that are easy for the kids to grab without making a mess.

6. BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR GOODIE BAG

It would be great to use your party theme here and make this a memorable experience for the kids.

7. KEEP THE PARTY SHORT, 2 HOURS MAX

Especially for very young children, two hours is more than enough time to do a fun activity, socialize with their friends, and avoid a meltdown.

8. CONSIDER NOT OPENING GIFTS OR HAVING A NO GIFT PARTY

Opening gifts in front of everyone can be stressful for you and your child. It is not that they are not excited for the gifts, it is just that they are young and are still learning how to be grateful. Due to this, many people choose not to host a gift exchange or just open their gifts at home.

9. TAKE A PHOTO OF THE GROUP AS A THANK YOU PICTURE

You can then print the photo with a note on it and use it as a thank you card!

10. WHEN PARTY IS OVER, GRACIOUSLY THANK THE PARENTS AND DO NOT HAVE LENGTHY CONVERSATIONS

Similarly, the day was likely stressful for the other parents as well. This is especially true if they need to be somewhere afterward. You should thank the parents and children for coming and send a thank you card afterward.
